Galicia Producer Guide

This northwest peninsula forms part of ‘Green Spain’ named after its lush, verdant landscape. The whites have a unique freshness, epitomized by their flagship Albariño and the up-and-coming Godello varieties. The historic Treixadura finds its home here too from Galicia’s oldest sub-region, Ribeiro. This modern, exciting region is also home to some brilliant red wines, particularly from the Mencía vines grown on the impossibly steep slopes of Ribeira Sacra.

We're grateful to Noah Chichester for his expertise and support in assisting us to put this list together.

Noah Chichester is a wine writer, educator, and the founder of winesofgalicia.com, the only English-language website dedicated to Galician wine.

After moving to Galicia in 2018, Noah became captivated by the region’s unique language, culture, and especially its wines. After several years living in Galicia, he spent time in La Rioja, where he noticed the wealth of resources about other Spanish wine regions and saw an opportunity to share the story of Galician wines with a global audience.

This led him to create The Wines of Galicia as the very first resource for English-speakers to learn about the region. He has traveled extensively throughout Galicia, interviewing winemakers, studying original Galician documents, and immersing himself in the local culture to better understand the unique terroir and history behind the region’s wines.

In addition to his work with Wines of Galicia, Noah is an active wine writer with bylines in publications like Jancis Robinson, Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, and SevenFifty Daily, as well as an educator. He engages with the wine community through social media, events, and collaborations. Through his work, Noah continues to educate and inspire wine enthusiasts about Galicia's distinctive offerings, cementing his role as a leading voice in the world of Galician and Spanish wine. You can follow him on Instagram @nchichester.

Let's hear from you!
