Dominio do Bibei was founded in 2001 by Javier Dominguez, whose brother is well-known Spanish fashion designer Adolfo Dominguez. The winery is located in the Bibei River valley, in the Quiroga-Bibei subzone of Ribeira Sacra, right on the border with DO Valdeorras. The design of the winery draws on the surrounding landscape: built into a hillside, it creates a minimal impact on the surroundings and allows the wine to be moved by gravity. Dominio do Bibei farms 32 hectares of vines at varying altitudes and expositions. The wines are blends, with Mencía dominating the reds and Godello the whites. Priorat winemakers Sara Pérez and René Barbier Jr. once consulted on winemaking, and the winery has also started the careers of winemakers like Laura Lorenzo of the now-defunct Daterra Viticultores and Gutier Seijo of Mixtura.
