Mixtura

What if there was an international border running down the middle of the Rhône River in France? There would be similar soils and grape varieties on each side, but the two banks would be in different countries. Former winemaker of Dominio de Bibei, Gutier “Guti” Seijo invites us to consider this question with Mixtura, a project that jumps from one side of the Miño River to the other as it forms the natural border between Spain and Portugal. He found vineyards along the river that he wanted to recover and explore, and he sources Treixadura from Ribeiro, Albariño from the Condado do Tea subzone of Rías Baixas, and Alvarinho from Melgaço, in Vinho Verde. Wines run from the entry-level Mix to single-parcel expressions of vineyards he is recovering.
