The four friends behind this now-iconic winemaking team (Alfonso Torrente, José Ángel Martínez, Laura Ramos and Roberto Santana) met while studying winemaking at the University of Alicante. They founded Envínate (“Wine Yourself”), under which they make a wide range of wines from regions such as the Canary Islands and Ribeira Sacra.
Alfonso Torrente, the resident Galician of the group, introduced the other three winemakers to his home region of Ribeira Sacra. They named the wine ‘Lousas’ from the Galician name for the local slate soils, and make wines ranging from a village cuvée to two single-vineyard reds. Since 2017, they have sold their wines without the Ribeira Sacra back label due to disagreements with the Regulatory Council.
