In Pacio, a mostly-abandoned hamlet in the village of A Peroxa, close to where the Sil River flows into the Miño River at Os Peares, Xabi Seoane tends four hectares of vines bought by his father. His goal is to create a self-sustaining fazenda, a family farm that grows its own produce, including wine. His family planted Mencía and some Merenzao in 2002 and the first wine was released in 2004. When Xabi took over the project in the early 2010s, he re-grafted some of the vines to other traditional grapes like Brancellao, Espadeiro, Loureira, Sousón, Dona Branca, and Caíño. Prádio has been in and out of DO Ribeira Sacra, largely due to Xabi’s conflicts with the regulatory council over regulations (and a little hard-headedness).
