Stella di Campalto

Ask the newest generation in Tuscany who they revere and Stella di Campalto is among the most frequently cited. A swiftly shooting star – if not already an icon, she definitely marches to the beat of her own drum. An early adopter of organic viticulture, she is also among the first in Montalcino to achieve biodynamic certification. It is impossible to single out flagship wines here. Each of the estate’s 14 parcels are vinified separately before being assembled into various ‘masses’ (as Stella calls them) that best express the vintage. She releases her hauntingly perfumed Brunello when she feels they are ready – usually well after her contemporaries.
