Jan Erbach and Caroline Pobitzer quietly craft gorgeously pristine and finessed Brunello as well as over-achieving Rosso. The wines are as intellectual as they are soulful echoing the couple’s aesthetic affinity. The division of up to five labels is based on a painstaking study of the estate’s 5.8 hectares spread over seven vineyards with distinct soil, altitude and exposure. It includes an experimental plot used to study and propagate Sangiovese’s diverse biotypes.

Environmental leaders by miles, the estate was certified biodynamic in 2003. They have also recently introduced vite maritata (married vines) an ancient Etruscan training technique in which interplanted trees provide physical support for the vines.
