In the context of its illustrious neighbours, the Fattoi estate remains under-the-radar and underrated. Yet, Ofelio Fattoi purchased this property long before the likes of Soldera and Gaja arrived in Tavernelle. Today, three generations work together crafting wines that harness the warmth and luminosity of Montalcino’s southwestern flank. The family relies on long ageing in large casks to temper the substantial backbone Sangiovese develops here. The resulting wines are well-priced and characterful with toothsome fruit and umami tang.
