Tenuta di Carleone

Born in Sri Lanka, raised in England and schooled in Germany, Sean O’Callaghan has made Tuscany his home. After a long tenure at Riecine, he moved to Tenuta di Carleone where he found a likeness of mind in owner Karl Egger. A modern maestro of Sangiovese, O’Callaghan sees similarities with Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo basing his winemaking on this. Spontaneous ferments, whole bunches, foot crushing and extended macerations all come into play. With crunchy depths and textural drama, the one and only Chianti Classico in the range is a perennial overperformer and lovely expression of Radda. His own personal wine, Il Guercio is labeled as an IGT and now comes from the heady terraced heights of Lamole. It is the definition of Sangio purity.
