Le Boncie

Le Boncie flirts with icon status. Following in her father’s footsteps, Giovanna Morganti studied oenology before eventually taking over his estate in Castelnuovo Berardenga. Now totaling 6 hectares divided between 6 parcels, the vineyards sit on a high plateau of mostly limestone rich clay. Morganti was among the early ‘re-adopters’ of bush vines in the Chianti Classico zone. She renounced the denomination in 2011 after her wines were rejected due to low SO2 levels. Originally inspired by biodynamic viticulture, she focuses specifically on phytotherapy – using plants extracts to nurture the vines. With the same delicate touch in the winery, her wines are as rich and sumptuous as they are lively and energetic.
