Mormoraia

As with many San Gimignano producers, Mormoraia offers 3 separate Vernaccia bottlings. However, the distinction between each is well-defined making for an intriguing line up. The mineral-driven and mouth cleansing Suavis sees just a few months in stainless steel. Fermented in neutral cask with longer time on lees, Ostrea amps up intensity, substance and structure. It is the real gem of the range. That said, the barrique-aged Riserva ‘Antalis’ made from late picked 40-year-old vines carries its oak with grace. Kudus to Alessandro Passioni who took the baton from his parents in 2012 and is further refining what they built.
