Susanna Grassi revived her family’s centuries-old property, and it is now emblematic of the small enclave of Lamole. Vineyards reach 650 metres on terraced slopes of Macigno - the local word for the non-calcareous sandstone that prevails. For such a small estate, there is a rather dizzying number of labels. Across the board, the wines reflect the gentleness of their maker - limpid, fragrant and midweight with red fruited loveliness. While the Gran Selezione demonstrates greater complexity and length, it remains true to elegance of place.
