A couple of years after taking over his family's property in Panzano in 1979, Giovanni Manetti crafted Flaccianello. This 100% Sangiovese was among the earliest Super Tuscans. While it remains outside the DOCG fold, Manetti is a tireless advocate for the Chianti Classico denomination. (As the consorzio’s president, he has been instrumental in achieving the new UGA system). The estate’s annata is a perennial overachiever and Vigna del Sorbo - now one of 3 Gran Selezione – is a flagbearer for its category. The involvement of his children Margherita and Bernardo (winemaker) keeps this estate dynamic. The latest novelty is an old vine, barrel fermented Trebbiano Toscano.
