Arrighi

Antonio Arrighi deserves plenty of credit for shining a spotlight on the island of Elba. Since the 90s, he has grown his family’s property from a miniscule 2 hectares to a total of 8. He looked first to drought tolerant international grapes like Syrah and Viognier, but it is the local Ansonica (aka Inzolio) and Aleatico varieties that are of real interest. The estate is one of a few still making a passito version of the latter. The future is bright here as Antonio’s 20-something-year-old daughter Giulia is putting her oenology degree to good use.
