Gulfi

Gulfi, founded in the late 1990s by Vito Catania in Chiaramonte Gulfi, is renowned for its uncompromising focus on Nero d’Avola and the expression of its diverse terroirs. The estate manages vineyards organically across southeastern Sicily, from the Iblei mountains down to Pachino near the coast, where old bush-trained (alberello) vines thrive in limestone and sandy soils.
Winemaking follows a philosophy of minimal intervention and no irrigation, with fermentations in stainless steel and aging in large barrels to preserve purity, energy, and territorial identity.
Gulfi’s hallmark is its series of cru Nero d’Avola, including NeroMaccàrj, NeroBufaleffj, NeroBaronj, and NeroSanloré, each capturing the nuances of specific sites, much like a Burgundian approach. Alongside Nero d’Avola, the winery also produces elegant expressions of Frappato, Carricante, and other native varieties.
