Planeta, founded in the mid-1990s by the Planeta family, is one of the key drivers of Sicily’s modern wine renaissance. With estates spread across five distinct territories, Menfi, Vittoria, Noto, Capo Milazzo, and on Mount Etna, the winery embraces a multi-terroir approach, producing wines that highlight both native and international varieties.
Native grapes such as Nero d’Avola, Frappato, Carricante, and Grillo are central to the portfolio, alongside well-adapted international cultivars like Chardonnay, Syrah, and Merlot. Each estate focuses on the varieties and styles best suited to its soils and microclimate, from the rich Santa Cecilia (Nero d’Avola) in Noto to the elegant Eruzione 1614 (Carricante) on Etna, and the pioneering Planeta Chardonnay from Menfi.
