Feudi Barone Spitaleri - Castello di Solicchiata

Barone Spitaleri, founded in the 19th century on Etna’s slopes, is a historic pioneer of Sicilian viticulture and among the first to earn international recognition. The estate was instrumental in introducing and cultivating international varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir, adapting them to the unique high-altitude volcanic environment. It is also credited with creating one of the earliest traditional-method sparkling wines in Sicily, demonstrating the versatility of Etna’s terroir. The wines are defined by precision, freshness, and pronounced minerality, a direct expression of the mountain’s soils and climatic conditions, blending historical legacy with technical innovation.
