One of the most exciting and influential Natural winemakers in the Rhône Valley, Eric Pfifferling has spearheaded a revolution in style and quality in Tavel and beyond. After pulling out of the local co-op in 2002, he sought the wisdom of Natural wine luminaries around France and spoke to the elders in the village about how Tavel was made before it became, in his belief, an overly ‘technical’ wine. He went back to basics, and by mastering semi-carbonic maceration, he has helped Tavel find a possible route back to its former glory. His sons Thibaud and Joris have now joined the estate, and share his vision.
