Domaine Comte Abbatucci

Jean-Charles Abbatucci is arguably the most renowned winemaker in Corsica, with the widest international reach and the distinction of being the only islander in the prestigious Académie des Vins de France. Coming from a noble family once close to Napoleon Bonaparte, he has named several of his estate’s cuvées after historical figures—Diplomate, Ministre, Général. In the early 2000s, he revived forgotten grape varieties from his father’s ampelographic collection, creating a series of unique blends. Around the same time, he embarked on his journey into biodynamics, but his pioneering spirit extends far beyond that. From reintroducing animal traction in the vineyards to playing music among the vines and experimenting with seawater treatments, he practices what he calls "historical culture," drawing wisdom from the past. His guiding principle: "When you take one step toward nature, it takes ten toward you."
