After more than 28 years in commercial construction management, during which I developed a passion for wine and learning about wine, I have had the opportunity to purchase a vineyard...more and winery - my husband and I are calling it our first retirement, as I 'retired' from my first career in Q1 2023 to work at the winery full time, while he will retire from his in Q2 2024. We're a year into our ownership of this winery that was first started as a personal vineyard in 1945, and my time for learning about anything but what I need to do to keep this business afloat and growing has been shunted to the side...I even failed my FWS exam because I set a date and could not allot time to the study necessary. Some day I'll get to bring that part of my passion for wine back online. Favorite varietal: Nebbiolo, Favorite region: Piedmont, Italy (coincidence that Piedmont is where Gus - who planted our first grapes in 1945, was raised).
