Congratulations to Alejandro Espinoza, IWS, for passing the Italian Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!
About Alejandro:
My passion for wine started when I began working at the winery Casas del Bosque in Casablanca. Chile is not famous for many things, but we have a deserved place in the wine world and to be part of that is very interesting. I feel very lucky to able to see the vines changing colour in autumn, the green in spring, to talk about wine in our tasting rooms and then go home and enjoy a glass of wine myself.
I passed the WSET 3 in 2019, here in Chile we do not have the chance to taste many wines from abroad and we receive 80% foreign tourists, so it is important to have a global picture to give a more complete experience. On the WSET course, Italy is only a chapter and I wanted to become an expert in Italian wine so once I heard about the IWS, I did not hesitate to take the program. I found it very complete, so in the future I am planning to enroll me in the French version.
I have Italian citizenship; I have spoken Italian since I was a kid and one of my goals is to work in Italy doing wine tours and tastings so I am sure that the IWS programme will help me achieve that. My grandfather was from Liguria, so would be a dream being in Cinque Terre showing the wines to the tourists!
