Congratulations to Federico Lleonart, SWS, for passing the Spanish Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!
About Federico:
I’m a wine professional with over 20-year experience. Originally from Argentina, I’ve worked in the hospitality business for a decade as a Somm and Maitre d’, as well as a wine writer and educator, and after joining Pernod Ricard Winemakers in 2010, where I’ve represented the wine portfolio around the world for 10 years as Global Wine Ambassador. Currently in charge of the ambassador program and education in EMEA markets.
I hold a Sommelier Diploma from ASI, I’m also a Certified Sommelier by the Court of Masters Sommeliers, have a WSET Level 3 Advanced in Wines and Spirits degree and also a WSET Certified Educator. And now, a Spanish Wine Scholar
The Spanish Wine Scholar complements all other qualifications by adding a specific specialization in Spanish wines, which is where I focus my interest.
For the moment I'm not taking on further studies, but I really enjoyed the content of the SWS so maybe, it could be another WSG program in the future.
The SWS program is currently the only specialization in Spanish wines, with a holistic view of the Spanish history, geography and wine styles. The study book is well edited and with relevant information. I’d recommend it to anyone who’s interested in broadening their wine knowledge and taking a deep dive into the Spanish wine landscape.
