Congratulations to Dr Daniel N Meijles, SWS, for achieving highest honors in the Spanish Wine Scholar exam with Kent Wine School, England.
About Daniel:
A wine enthusiast with a passion for all things wine related; from its consumption with like-minded individuals to learning the intricacies of what makes wine so special through education. Being a University Senior Lecturer who specializes in the heart and blood vessels, education and the sharing of knowledge is a particular passion. One day I hope to combine the day job with that of wine education, perhaps even expanding on how wines are good for the heart.
A graduate of the WSET award in wines levels 2&3, passing with distinctions in both, and the Rioja Wine Academy Diploma. The SWS was a fantastic resource to have an in-depth, country-wide perspective on the history and ranging styles of Spanish wines by regions, complimenting all studies thus far and providing clarity on all things Spain-related.
I am currently enrolled onto the French Wine Scholar course and the Capstone Californian Wine course, and I look forward to having the same clarity and expanse in knowledge in all the French/Californian wine regions I currently have for Spain. Later this year, hopefully with another highest honours result from the FWS, I intend to enroll on the two Italian Wine Scholar parts prior to starting the WSET diploma.
The SWS has ignited a passion to delve deeper into the various wine regions to understand the genus of wine and why wine regions are dominant powerhouses grounded from history and development. Moreover, I hope to utilize the links made from undertaking the SWS to expand my knowledge through the various WSG member offerings.
